A domain's DNS zone tells the internet where to find your website, email, or other services connected to your domain. cPanel's Zone Editor lets you add, edit, or delete these records without advanced technical knowledge.
Adding a DNS record
- Log in to cPanel and go to "Domains" → "Zone Editor".
- Choose the domain you want and click "Manage" next to it.
- Click "Add Record" and select the record type: A (IP address), CNAME (alias), MX (mail server), or TXT (verification/SPF).
- Fill in the "Name" field (e.g. "www" or "@" for the root domain), the "TTL" value (the default is usually fine), and the "Record"/"Address" with the correct value (e.g. the IP address for an A record).
- Click "Add Record" to save — the change is visible immediately inside cPanel.
Global propagation of DNS changes can take up to 24-48 hours, depending on internet providers' caching settings. You can check the current IP and domain resolution using our free MyIP tool.
