Recover SSH access to your Metin2 VPS, even if you've forgotten the root password, using the VNC console.

For security reasons, the VPS's SSH password isn't kept in your client account for later viewing. If you've forgotten it, you can reset it directly from the VPS admin panel's VNC console, by booting into single-user mode.

Restarting the VPS and accessing the VNC console

  1. Log in to the VPS admin panel using the details from your activation email.
  2. From the service management section, fully restart the VPS.
  3. Open the server's VNC console.
  4. At startup, select the "boot single user" option from the boot menu.

Resetting the password

  1. Run, in order, the commands: mount -u /
  2. mount -a
  3. passwd — then enter the new root password twice, to confirm.
  4. Finish with a full restart: shutdown -r now
This procedure is specific to FreeBSD/Linux systems with a classic boot loader. If you run into difficulties, CHLink's support team can guide you directly from the VNC console.
